Terms and conditions of Ulster Bank staff need to be protected in any TUPE transfer say FSU
11 March 2022
Hundreds of union members in Ulster Bank affected by the proposed TUPE transfers to both AIB and Permanent TSB have sent a clear message to their future employer that their current terms and conditions should be maintained.
As part of the withdrawal of Ulster Bank, seven hundred workers face potential TUPE transfer to either AIB or Permanent TSB later this year and into early next year, subject to CCPC approval.
Negotiations between FSU and both potential future employers have commenced.
Yesterday hundreds of union members met online to discuss their priorities and concerns.
Speaking following the meeting FSU Head of Industrial Relations and Campaigns, Gareth Murphy, said:
“Members are understandably anxious and concerned about transferring to a new employer. The meeting discussed key issues like working time, pensions, pay and reward, grading, flexible working arrangements.
Ulster Bank workers want their terms and conditions of employment, pensions, benefits, policies, flexible arrangements and working experience post transfer reflective of their current position.
FSU members were strong and united in their position that they would be no worse off following TUPE and their conditions and experience of work with any future employer should be maintained.
Our negotiating team will take this mandate into the negotiations, and we expect both potential new employers will do the right thing by these future staff and commit to honour all working conditions.”
