Respect at Work Campaign receives Forward Through Collective Bargaining award at UNI Europa conference in Belfast
27 March 2025
The inaugural Forward Through Collective Bargaining award was presented to the Respect at Work campaign for its work in highlighting the practice of union busting by unscrupulous employers and for its positive campaign in promoting collective bargaining.
The Respect at Work campaign is a collaboration of four Unions, SIPTU, FSU, CWU and Mandate.
Ian McArdle, Deputy General Secretary of the CWU accepted the award on behalf of the campaign and said:
We welcome the recognition by UNI Europa for the campaign and want to assure everyone this award is not the end of the journey.
It is an encouragement to keep going, to win the legal rights and protections that all workers deserve
Four Unions, SIPTU, FSU, CWU and Mandate have combined to put collective bargaining high on the political agenda in Ireland.
We asked parties and candidates to sign the following pledge during the recent general election.
“I pledge to support legislation which promotes collective bargaining, protects workplace representatives and ensures the right to access a trade union at work.”
89 TDs signed the pledge, representing a majority of the new Dáil.
TDs from across the political divide including current Government Ministers made a conscious decision to sign the pledge
The Respect at Work campaign will hold those TDs to account and will intensify its work over the coming months.
All workers deserve respect at work.“
