FSU members in AIB vote to accept deal on cost-of-living payment
27 September 2023
Fully paid carers leave among items negotiated by the FSU and accepted by Union members.
AIB staff, who are members of the Financial Servies Union have voted to accept a range of proposals which had been negotiated between the FSU and AIB at a recent meeting of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).
The announcement was made by the FSU after two weeks of balloting members and months of intense negotiations with the Bank.
Commenting on the result, Billy Barret, Senior Industrial Relations Officer with the FSU said:
“ The FSU has been in intensive negotiations with AIB management over the past few months on financial support for staff to help with cost of living.
The issue was referred to the WRC for conciliation where an agreement was reached which the FSU was content to recommend to members.
We have informed the Bank that Union members have now voted to accept the proposals.
Some of the items included in the negotiated agreement are :
- Staff in AIB will receive a €1,000/£900 tax free voucher payable before the end of 2023.
- Effective from January 2024 AIB will introduce 10 days fully paid carers leave per calendar year.
- Effective from January 2024 the current marriage leave policy will be superseded by a new “Significant Life Event” policy. This will enable staff to avail of 5 days leave over the lifetime of their career for significant life events.
- Effective from January 2024 mileage rates will increase by 9%
This agreement will give some comfort to staff who are struggling with the rising cost of living, but the issue of basic pay increases remains an issue of concern that will need addressing in future pay talks.”
